In addition to a variety of technical and performance classes in Theatre and Film, NYDS also offers classes in Songwriting, Circus, Dance, Drag and Stand-up Comedy.
When you apply to NYDS, you will select your top six class choices. We do our best to place you in your first or second choice, but this is not always possible. We consider many factors in allocating classes, including applicant experience, class size and mix of age and gender.
There are two types of classes – “Full Day Workshops” and “Home Groups”.
Full Day Workshops
If you are placed in a “Full Day Workshop” you will be in this class for the whole week (full days) and will not take any other classes.
Home Group & Afternoon Tasters
If you are placed in a “Home Group” you will be in this class for the bulk of the week but will also be allocated an “Afternoon Taster” class (based on your class choice rankings), which you will attend twice (two afternoons) during the week.
